Dear Gerriet from Germany,
My name is Evan and I skateboard too, I would like to hear about what skateboarding is like in Germany. I am interested to find out about favorite pros, favorite brands, and favorite places to skateboard. I will tell you what it's like to skateboard in America. Also what are your other hobbies.
I would like to know what Volkmusic is anyways. I also am interested in the types of musics that are popular, especially the artists. What are some popular things to do in Germany(as of sports I mean).
Sincerely, Evan from Seattle.

Hi Evan,
skateboarding is very popular here, principally for the young generation. I know that the real pros are not so young, but they arenīt old, either.
Most pros donīt come from Germany, I only know skaters from abroad. The favorite brands are: és, vans, DC and Globe. In Germany itīs normal that there is a place to skateboard in every town. For example, Sillenstede (near Wilhelmshaven) with 3.000 inhabitants has a place to skateboard.
Volksmusic is soft music that older people listen to. Itīs a kind of classical and pop. I think itīs nothing for you and not for me, either. The young boys and girls listen to rap music, rock, pop, punk music and dance music. I listen to rap music and rock.
In Germany soccer is the favorite sport you can do. I think that in America football is the favorite sport. Do you like football, too? Or do you like something else?
Gerriet Sterrenberg, from Sillenstede

Ahoy Hoy,  That's what we say in Washington. My name is Trevor.   You said you like to skate. That's cool. I've been skating for a while too.  I like rock music not rap.  Do you like skateboarding a lot.  If you do that's cool. What kind of board do you have. That's about it. tootles. We say that here too.

Hy Trevor!
I want to tell you something about myself.
I have done skateing for 1 1/2 years but I'm not very good.*g*
My skateboard is a 'powell minilogo' (I think, you know this brand) and my trucks are the 'independent indy'!
What kind of board do you have?
I'm happy that you like rock music because that is better than techno music!
What kind of rock music do you like? Which artists?
What are 'tootles'?
Olaf
P.S.
The name of our group is ELMATGEROLAF and not DRUGS & PARENTS
(It's a mistake of our teacher)! Please write back!

Hello Angie !
I'm Elmar and I'm 15 years old . My nickname is Elmo. Do you have a nickname or is Angie already yours? My birthday is on 21.07. What about your birthday? You play basketball? That's cool! I play basketball sometimes in my school. I play in a hall and outside. Where do you play? In a hall or outside? I think you have special "basketball-cages". Do you?
I have one brother. He's 17 years old and sometimes he's very terrible. Do you have a brother or a sister? In what kind of house do you live? I live on farm so we have a big house to live.
Elmar

To Elmar from Germany,
Hi Elmar this is Annie. I think you have mistaken me for Angie but my name is Annie. Yes, I do play basketball. I play either outside or in a gym which maybe you call a basketball cage. But I don't know if you do or not. My birthday is on October 4, it passed just a little while ago but had fun. I am in 13, which means that I am 2 years younger than you!! I have one brother who is 9 almost 10 and which he annoys me a lot. Around the age of 9 or 10 it is like around the annoying stage. So umm..I live in a 3-story house. It is in the city. It is a brand new house just about 2 years old. So what is it like living on a farm. I wouldn't know cause I have never lived on a farm before and probably don't intend to. But I guess it would be fun to live there. Is living on a farm mean being wealthy? Ok umm...write back and we can talk about more things.
Bye!!! Annie

Hello Obert Jema !
My name is Elmar from the group "Elmatgerolaf"  We are all 15 years old. My partners are Maddy Gerriet and Olaf. I like to go fishing, biking and listening to rock-music. My favourite artists are Linkin Park, Green Day and P.O.D. Do you know them?
Our teacher expects us to talk about our topics. Our topics are "Drugs and Parents" Let's start with parents. I’ll ask you some questions and you can try to answer in your next e-mail. You don't have to answer every question.
Do you have brothers and sisters?
What do your parents do if you are bad at school?
Do you get extra lessons?
Do you get punishment?
Do your parents help you to learn?
What about your brothers and sisters?
Do your parents prefer one of your sisters or brothers. ?
These were the first questions. Please try to answer them. Write back. Bye!
Elmar

Hey Nasrin,
In our e-mail project Iīm in the group which is called "Elmatgerolaf". We have the topic: PARENTS! Maybe you can tell me if the relationship to your parents is bad or very good. Are your parents strict, or do they say:"Do what you want!"? What happens if you write a bad test? Get you extra lessons? If you want to talk about that please write back. If you donīt want to do that, you can write your topics to me.
My parents’ relationship to me is simply good. They arenīt too strict or tell me that I should do this and this, either. I canīt do what I want, but I have enough freetime for myself.
Gerriet

Hello Trevor!
Sorry, have I told you that I play an instrument? I don't do that. I know only one Band, you told me about and this is 'Green Day'; my friends like this band very much!
You know that I'm in the group ELMATGEROLAF and so I want to talk about our  group-topics (Drugs & Parents).
You don' t have to give us an answer to the following questions! If you feel awkward about one of these questions, please write no answer.
1.) What is the relationship between your parents and you like?
2.) Are your parents strict?
3.) Are your parents against drugs (alcohol, cigarettes) ?
4.) Do you think that problems with parents lead young people to take drugs?
5.) What drugs are 'normal' or usual in America?
6.) Have you ever taken drugs like cigarettes or alcohol?
tootles
Olaf

We want to know what happens if you write a bad test. Do you get extra lessons or do your parents say: “It’s your life and your future!”? And what is the limit time to go out in the evening and how do your parents control it, and how they react if you come later as they said?
- How much free time do you have? Are you allowed to do everything you want? Or do you have to learn for school, before you can get out with your friends? In which way do your parents react if you go around with friends that are not very popular with your parents?
- Now to another question: Are you allowed to drink alcohol in small quantities from your parent’s way?

To:  Elmar and Gerriet from Germany,
Hey!  How are you doing?  Well to start off I would also like to discuss
drugs and parents.  But first I would like to talk about my parents.  When I
do bad in school they tell me to try to re-do whatever I messed up on and do
it again.  But if I don't I sort of made a deal with them with my grades and
extra curricular activities.  The deal is that if I get bad grades then I
have to quit whatever I am doing, and if I get good grades I get to keep
doing what I am doing.  Right now, I am in basketball and football, which
are my top two favorite sports.  Oh yah, back to the topic.  My parents are
not that strict unless I get in trouble, my parents don't hurt me in any
way, because one, its against the law to hit your child, and two it is not
something that they would do to me.  Also, if I do badly in a subject I
don't get extra work to do I just have to do better next time.  Well I hope
to keep in touch, okay.  Talk to you later.
Gilbert

Dear Olaf from Germany,
Hey! Thanks for writing back to me. I will look up those bands and
check them out. Carhartt is awesome! So, what kind of boards do you ride?
And what kind of tricks can you do? I would like to know. Tell me about
food, and stuff like that, and we could compare the U.S. to Germany.
What does greez mean? Tell me what it is, and I'll tell you some
sayings here.
Sincerely,
Brendan from Seattle
