Hi, Nadja and Annika,
As soon as I read your personal introductions I knew that I had found my ideal penfriends.
Like me, you love hard rock music and reading. I think it would be good for us to swap
opinions... but, I'm sorry, I've forgotten to introduce myself: I'm Antonio and I come from
Italy (Yawn! Introductions are so boring!).
All the best, Antonio

Hi Antonio!
You seem to be very nice! How old are you? What bands do you like? What kinds of books do
you read? At the moment I prefer Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but I only like Alien Ant Farm for
example or Limp Bizkit. But I do also often listen to pop or oldies or other kinds of
music. It depends on my mood. The lesson is over! Write to me please!
Bye, Nadja

Hi Antonio!
Well, in fact Linkin Park got a grammy for the best hardrock performance for their song "Crawling".
So I think Linkin Park is not pop but rock. But I don't think it's so important to put bands into exact Linkin Park types of music, especially nowadays where nearly everyday new types of music are invented.
I hope that you answer soon,
bye bye Nadja

Hi!
I'm Kimleng, but you can call me Kim. I just turned 17, so we're all basically
the same age. The types of music I listen to is... everything!
I enjoy listening anything from hard rock to classical. Right now I'm enjoying Pachelbel's Canon in D.
It calms me down. Well girls, I will write you later.
So write me back!
Kim

Unbroken Hearts

Unbroken hearts
silent uncried tears
lonely people
unspoken fears
unfulfilled dreams
as we submit to useless whims
dark cries in the night
a hope to win in an endless fight
Unanswered questions echo through the sky
broken promises go for so high
we stand apart
never to talk
never to touch
never to know
this is me
and that is you
unbroken hearts that would find each other true
unspoken secrets whisper through the air
I look around to see if you're still there
I can feel you so near, but yet you are so far
deep inside there is a sense of loneliness
a need to be
a need to want to share life and love
a heart that doesn't want to be undone
by any pain or hurt
that could drive a person insane
words left unsaid, unspoken
two lost souls
never to find one another
two people meant to be together
but somehow they are never to meet
never to truly complete their destiny
unbroken hearts if only that exists
Kimleng Poy

Dear Kim!
I'm Annika (age: 17) from Jever, Germany. I read your poem and I think that it is wonderful, really!
I'm not so good in writing poems, but I would like to try it. I hope that I will be able to learn it somehow.
I would like to know if you describe your own situation in this poem?
Do you feel that you are driven insane by loneliness of heart?
I, myself, feel sometimes a bit lonesome 'cause I haven't got a boyfriend.
A reason for that could be that I don't search enough for one.
Many people meet new friends at parties or in discos,
but I don't like this kind of amusement much. I'm also a bit shy sometimes.
I would looking forward to your answer.
Bye, Annika

Hey Annika!
How are you? I hope you are well. I am doing just wonderful.
I just wanted to say thanks for responding to my poem.
About my poem...I was in a really sad situation that year. I had met a really nice guy who reminded me of this guy from my dreams. When I was little I use to dream about this guy. He was tall, with blond hair and blue eyes. The other thing I remembered about him from my dreams was that his name was Joshua. I had called him Josh. This guy that I had met was exactly like Josh. From his height to his crystal clear blue eyes. My Josh was really depressed. He spoke to me about the things he loved, the things he hated, how his life had been. Over the few months that I knew him, I fell in love. I couldn't say anything because he was my best friend. We had grown that close.
It was on a May day when Josh killed himself taking my dreams away. In those dreams we were together, married. I had always felt that he was my soul-mate everytime I was talking to him. I felt it, and on that day it was gone. I felt so empty, so lost. From that I wrote Unbroken Hearts. For my heart was broken because he was gone and that happiness and stability that he brought to me would never be lived with him by my side, ever again. My heart though was unbroken because he never knew my feelings.

"..two lost souls
never to find one another
two people meant to be together
but somehow they are never to meet.."

In my heart at times when I think of him, I feel that we were meant to be together, if only I had done something. I should have told him how I felt. I should have known he was suffering. I knew so much about him and I knew so little at the same time. It depresses me to think that I could have done something.
Only a few hours before Josh killed himself he was talking to me. Josh had once lived near me before he moved down to Rhode Island. We had only known each other for a few weeks before he left me for Rhode Island. This move he told me later on was against his will. Once he was in Rhode Island things just went downhill for him. Emotionally he was unstable because in RI (Rhode Island), he was an outcast. The so called "new kid." I'm sorry if I keep switching from one time frame to another. I was really depressed during this time and everything was almost a blur to me. So back to Josh...
His mom called me to tell me that Josh had gone up to his room and stabbed himself to death. Josh had much talent. He wanted to be a Deejay. A music deejay. He wanted to work with music, and be the music industry. He needed help. More help than I could have ever given him. Now I'm left without Josh's love. I'm left without not knowing if he had ever felt the same or not. I'm left with...loneliness and emptiness..and an unbroken heart. It wasn't until a few months after Josh's death that I coped. When I finally realized that Josh needed much more than I could have ever given him. I loved him but that would have never been enough.
I met Ryan who was the complete opposite of Josh, appearance wise. Ryan is shorter, with dark hair and hazel eyes. In manner though Ryan and Josh are exactly alike. I've been in love with Ryan for almost two years now, and life couldn't be better in love. Ryan knows about Josh because when he met me I was still very much depressed. He helped me out of it. Together we made each other happy. That is how it has always been. I've been his foundation and pillar of support, love, hope and dreams. Everything.
Ryan and I wrote poems for each other. Back then it use to be an indication of sadness. My poems aren't always happy. Writing poems had always been a release for me. It had always been a way for me to get away from the things that make me sad, the things that depressed me. It always worked. I'm not so sad anymore. I haven't wrote a poem in a long time. I'm not going to force myself to write a poem when I don't feel inspiration to pour my heart out. I had always written what I feel. That is just how I am.
Don't think about learning how to write a poem or how other people wrote poems. Just write how you feel. Try it. :) Being shy is all right. I use to be quite shy myself. I'm not that shy anymore, but I can be sometimes. I have to go now. I spent the entire period writing this to you. Thank you again for writing to me. Write back!
Always, Kim

Dear Kim!
I'm very sorry for Josh. If I had known before that he had committed suicide I wouldn't have asked you about your poem.
I don't know how I would react if someone I love kills himself. A year ago I lost my grandma.
She died because of illness and because of her high age. I think it is good to continue with life. I hope for that the relationship between Ryan and you is good. I would also like to have a boyfriend like Ryan. It seems that he understands you very well and helped you after Ryan's death.
Bye, Annika

Hello from the US, Annika and Nadja!
Welcome to our "classroom." My name is Tiffany, and I am 17 years old.
I am from this little tiny town in Massachusetts. I enjoy dancing and spending time with my boyfriend.
It sounds like you both have some awesome hobbies. I have so many questions that I do not know where to start!
Oh, well, here I go...
You said that you liked hard rock music. What bands do you listen to? Are there any American bands that you like?
I do not really listen to hard rock all of the time, but occassionally my boyfriend and his friends will be in the mood to listen to it, and I just go with the flow of things.
Both of you sound really interesting, I am looking forward to hearing back from you and getting to know everyone!
Talk with you later! Tiffany

Hi Tiffany!
It's Nadja!
Indeed I don't only like hard rock but at the moment it's my favourite kind of music.
But that depends also on my mood. I like for example Alien Ant Farm and Limp Bizkit
but at the moment I like Red Hot Chilli Peppers because my boyfriend also likes them.
I hope that you'll write to me soon!
See you later, Nadja

Linkin Park Hey girls~
It is too bad about not being able to swim in the North Sea.
Oh yeah, you had mentioned things about your favorite television shows,
how you especially like sitcoms, well, my life is like a big huge sitcom sometimes.
I think you would all get a good laugh out of it.
I hope you have a good week, talk with you later!
Tiffany

Hi Tiffany!
Is there anything your region is famous for?
What is the weather like in your region?
The last days it was very stormy and rainy here. I hate this weather.
I really would like to be in Spain on the beach in the warm sun.
Change of theme: Do you believe in ghosts and abnormal things?
Do you think that there is also life on other planets?
Do you believe in a life after death?
I would be very happy I you answered my questions!
I wish you a good day! Bye, Nadja

My region in America is famous for tobacco.
In our town we have something like 6 or 7 tobacco farms.
However, you would think that it would be really warm here, but it isn't.
We have about 7 months of warm weather, (April to about September), then the rest of the time it is VERY cold.
Linkin Park We usually have a lot of snow, however, this year has been very warm, and we have had barely any snow.
I do believe in ghosts. I also believe that loved ones look out for you after they pass on.
I believe that there has to be some form of life on another planet in other galaxies.
What do you think? I have got to go and catch up on some things!
Talk with you later! Tiffany

Hi Tiffany!
Sometimes I believe in ghosts. Especially after watching a horror movie.
Then everything looks like a ghost and I am not able to sleep.
But I am not sure if ghosts really exist.
Do you like horror movies? Do you know any?
My favourite movie is "Haunted Hill". I've seen it 4 or 5 times.
I like this feeling of being afraid when you don't know what happens next.
Do you know "Nightmare on Elmstreet" with pizzaface Freddy Krueger?
Some movies of that are really cool I think.
I believe that there is something after death.
I can't imagine that suddenly everything should be over. But I have no idea what exactly happens.
I also believe that there is life somewhere on undiscovered planets. But perhaps not in this kind that we can imagine.
I like horoscopes. Everytime I see a horoscope I have to read it.
And I like these Chinese cookies with their short messages. But the last time I went to the
Chinese restaurant, there was no message in the cookie! Is that a bad sign?
I hope to read your answer soon!
I wish you a nice Tuesday!
Bye, Nadja

Hey Nadja ~
I believe in ghosts because I think that sometimes my friends and family who have passed away are always watching over me. I just get this feeling sometimes, it is really weird. I don't really like horror movies. They really freak me out. I have heard of all of the movies that you mentioned, however, not seen all of them. I tend to watch parts of movies, mostly the parts that aren't scary. However, I did like the movie "What Lies Beneath." It was really scary.
Luckily my boyfriend watched it with me, so it wasn't that bad.
I absolutely adore horoscopes and fortune cookies. I keep all the fortunes that I get from them, well, if they are good ones.
I don't know what it means if you didn't get a fortune in your fortune cookie. I have never heard of anything like that. Sounds like SOMEONE was slacking at the cookie factory!
Well, I hope you have a good day and week! Talk with you shortly!
Tiffany

Hi Bethan!
I am Nadja from Germany. I am 17 years old.
I don't have many relatives, either. And the few I have all live in this region here.
I wish I had an aunt in Spain or an uncle in Italy or something like that.
It's never too late for a little brother. My brother is nearly 2 years old. He destroys my whole room and makes chaos in the whole house. He bites me and hits me and he tries to go on my nerves all the time. There are also times when he's sweet and nice. But only when he wants candy or when he sleeps.
In Ohio is such a high crime rate? Are you afraid to go out? Have you ever been involved in a crime?
Here is not much crime. The police here control bikes because there's nothing to do. I also liked "X-Files" once.
But somehow I am not any longer interested in it. Sometimes I watch "Buffy".
Linkin Park I like it but I don't have enough time to watch it regularly.
I like this horror and mystery genre. My favourite movie is "Haunted Hill".
I think it's pretty cool that you work in a youth group. Do you believe in god?
Do you think that people who are involved in the church should believe in god?
I hope you'll write to me soon!
Wish you a nice Tuesday! Bye, Nadja

Linkin Park Hey Nadja!
What's up? You're right, music does depend on the mood you're in.
I'm listening to Pink and Craig David right now.
My zodiac sign is Sagittarius. What is your zodiac sign?
My horoscope for today says that I don't want to listen to anyone.
I'm following my own dreams and nothing else matters.
I also have to be prepared to handle the consequences if I
upset someone in the process of achieving those dreams.
Well, that's always nice to hear.
Later, Kim

Hi Kim!
I also like Pink right now with her "Get the party started".
It's a cool music to dance to in the disco.
My zodiac sign is Leo.
My horoscope says that I have got existential fears on the one hand but on the other hand I want to live and to love.
I want to get out of my dark hole. I should stop wailing and get active.
I don't think my horoscope is right today. I don't wail and I don't have existential fears at the moment.
I hope you had a nice weekend. I enjoy every weekend because I can sleep so long.
I wish you a nice day!
Hope to see your mails soon! Bye, Nadja

Hello to all circle members!
Has anyone of you had an experience with ghosts or other mysterious things? Or somebody you know?
I think such mysterious things are very interesting. But I haven't had any supernatural experience, only in my fantasy.
Do you believe that somewhere apart from the earth intelligent life exists? Some people even think there just between us...
Well, I really think that such live exists but perhaps not in this kind we can imagine.
My other favourites interests are movies and TV.
What was your last movie you watched in the cinema? I saw "Showtime" last Saturday.
It was a good movie but not more, there was nothing special.Linkin Park
The last real good movie I saw was "A.I.". It was really sad and full of emotions. I am going to see it again.
My favourite comedy show on TV is "Friends". I really like this sitcom, it makes me laugh a lot.
What do you watch on TV?
I would be really glad if you answer my questions!
I wish you a great day, bye bye Nadja

Language, Speak it Musically

Language (noun): the words, their pronunciation, and the methods of combining them used and understood by a considerable community and established by long usage.
Every day you are exposed to language. Whatever type of language it is that you speak connects you with the people you are around. It guides you through life and helps you get things done. Without language, what form of communication would we be using? From that definition language includes the words, how they are pronounced, and how they are used. We use language in many ways, from writing, to speaking, and even to singing.
There are many different languages ranging from International Sign Language, the language of the hearing impaired, to Finnish, the native language of Finland. English, German, Khmer, Spanish, French, Italian, Latin, and Greek are only a few other languages. The language of music, though, is the same everywhere. It maybe in the form of another language, but it has basically the same message. That message is usually helpful to many people who do not know each other.

Mu·sic (noun): the science or art of incorporating pleasing, expressive, or intelligible combinations of vocal or instrumental tunes into a composition having definite structure and continuity.
The international, multicultural language of music is so widespread. Music ranges into many different genres or types specific to every individual's tastes. The different genres include: classical, pop, punk rock, alternative rock, adult contemporary, top 40s, hard rock, country, folk, blues, progressive, and industrial. Hard rock may sound like noise to my parents, but to me it would sound completely different. Music, like humans, evolves with time. It changes over the years and decades.
Let's take people with problems as an example. We can say teenagers are people with problems, right? Being a teenager, I am going to use myself as a specific example. A few years ago I had been going through some really rough times in my life. Besides friends who loved and cared about me, I had music. Music got me through every day. When I woke up, I would turn the radio on and hum along while getting ready for school. Music, to me, was a release. Music is something that helped me forget about my daily hassles or everyday problems that kept accumulating and creating much unnecessary stress. Music is almost like medicine, the addictive kind. Okay, so not really, but it helps you nonetheless.
My personal favorite would have to be punk rock. It is very upbeat, and it matches my personality. After all those years of not feeling good about myself, I found punk rock. That may sound really weird, but it is the truth. Listening to punk makes me so much happier. Right now I'm listening to a sad love song. If I were to change the song to New Found Glory's "Sincerely Me," I would be dancing all over the place instead of sitting here writing this piece.
Music has meaning to it. Even the music without words can have meaning. People who enjoy classical music find meaning in every note of the piece. That is what music is about. It is not just bunch of noise, or sounds put together. Music is thoughts and words expressed in the form of lyrics. It is almost like poetry except it has actual rhythm and beat to it. In poetry you have meter, and rhyme. You can "hear" it, but you can't, not really. Music is, well, poetry brought to life. It is everywhere. It does not know color, race, gender, or any other sort of difference. By being everywhere and so universal, it helps people understand one another, and it helps without actually being there to do the act of helping. Music is the language of healing in many ways, types, and forms. That is why, in my opinion, language should be spoken musically.
